HARRISBURG, PA – June 1, 2026 − On Friday, May 29, Senator Malone welcomed approximately 50 members of the community and several of their pets to his Lititz District Office for a “Protecting Paws” dog licensing clinic and SPCA donation drive. The event also served as an opportunity to highlight Senator Malone’s legislation to establish humane pet retail standards by stopping pet stores from sourcing their animals from puppy mills and other high-volume breeders.

“I was moved by the generosity of our neighbors who donated a large number of supplies for the local SPCA,” said Senator Malone. “People care a lot about the health and wellness of pets in our community. It’s why I introduced SB 1190 to reduce the demand for puppy mills and other high-volume breeders. Not only do these facilities treat animals poorly, but they also often leave families to deal with costly veterinary bills due to genetic and other health issues. Together, we can care for the animals in our community that need adopted while putting an end to inhumane breeding practices.”

Event attendees generously donated several bags and bins of pet food, toys, treats, towels, and other supplies to benefit the Lancaster SPCA.
