HARRISBURG, PAJuly 9, 2026 – On Wednesday, July 8, State Senator James Andrew Malone joined school district leadership and staff at Manheim Central Middle School to announce an $83,600 state grant he helped secure for flexible student workspaces. The funding was used to renovate and provide furniture for three workspaces to facilitate collaborative learning outside of the traditional classroom environment.

“Lancaster’s public schools are doing an excellent job creating environments where kids can learn and thrive,” said Senator Malone. “I’m proud to advocate for schools like Manheim Central Middle School and support them wherever I can with additional resources. I’m thankful for the leadership and partnership of Manheim Central Superintendent Dr. Ryan Axe, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Amy Flannery, Middle School Principal Michael Pyle, and their team. They are clearly passionate and dedicated to providing the highest quality education possible for local students.”

“The Manheim Central School District would like to thank Senator Malone and his team for the support in securing this grant,” said Superintendent Dr. Axe. “The collaborative learning spaces we have been able to furnish will serve our Barons for years to come!”

During the event, Senator Malone toured recently renovated hub areas and a College Row area, which features banners from institutions of higher education, like Penn State and Elizabethtown College, to inspire students to plan for their futures.
