HARRISBURG, PA – October 28, 2026 − Today, State Senator James Andrew Malone (D-36, Lancaster) joined staff at the Warwick Community Ambulance Association (WCAA) in Lititz to announce a $375,000 state grant he helped secure for a new ambulance vehicle and equipment. The new ambulance will help ensure adequate coverage in the Association’s service area, which expanded in recent years to include more rural communities in Elizabeth Township and Clay Township.
“I was proud to help the Warwick Community Ambulance Association apply for and secure this grant,” said Senator Malone. “I’m always looking for ways to support our local first responders as they serve my constituents and neighbors in Lancaster. I’m glad we were able to secure state funding to expand their ambulance fleet, which will enable them to better serve more rural communities in their coverage area. This team saves lives every day, and I’m so grateful for the work they do. Now, they will have more equipment and vehicles at the ready to quickly respond to emergencies in our region.”
“Community support is vital to ensuring our providers have the tools they need to deliver lifesaving care wherever an emergency happens,” said WCAA Head of Marketing & Development April Raymond. “We’re extremely grateful to Senator Malone for securing this funding for a new ambulance equipped to meet the needs of our rural communities. This investment strengthens our ability to reach and care for our neighbors when they need us most.”
In 2022, WCAA signed an agreement to expand its coverage from Lititz Borough and Warwick Township to include Elizabeth Township and portions of Clay Township. As a nonprofit, the WCAA relies mostly on service fees and donations for funding. With rising costs and a larger service area, the Association approached Senator Malone for assistance in funding a new vehicle to maintain EMS coverage in the region.
“The benefit of securing this grant is that it allows WCAA to save money earmarked for operational needs such as wages and supplies,” said WCAA Chief Financial Officer Frank Kenavan.
