HARRISBURG, PA – May 5, 2025 − Today, Senator James Malone was officially sworn in to represent Pennsylvania’s 36th Senate District in Lancaster County. Senator Malone is the first Democrat to win a State Senate election in Lancaster in over 130 years.
“Lancastrians made their voices clear: They want to put chaos and division behind us,” said Senator Malone. “I’m honored that they’ve put their trust in me to lead the way forward as their Senator. I plan to represent them with compassion, honesty, and respect for hard work and the people who do it.”
“I view it as my calling to stand in the gap between what people have and what they need,” he continued. “My constituents told me directly what they need during the campaign. They need affordable housing where they work. They want fair funding for their public schools so their kids can have a bright future. And they want safe, healthy communities supported by well-resourced first responders. That’s what I’ll be working on.”
Senator Malone’s 2025-2026 committee assignments are as follows:
- Game & Fisheries, Democratic Chair
- Communications & Technology
- Agriculture & Rural Affairs
- Local Government
- Aging & Youth
