Senator James Andrew Malone is a father, husband, and former mayor proudly representing Pennsylvania’s 36th Senate District in Lancaster County.

James believes in serving his constituents with compassion by filling the gap between what people have and what they need. After standing in that gap as Mayor of East Petersburg for eight years, he is working to deliver change in Harrisburg that has a broad, positive impact on Lancastrians by doing good without doing harm.

Senator James MaloneAs someone who has worked tough jobs to provide for himself and his family, James is a champion for legislation that rewards hard work and respects the people who do it. From harvesting sugar beets and feeding cattle in his youth to working as a roofer and carpenter as a young man, his path shaped his legislation priorities. In the Senate, he fights to make sure people doing hard jobs can afford a good home and are paid a living wage.

James also brings a collaborative, honest approach to government. As a past member of the Lancaster County Mayors’ Association and the Pennsylvania State Mayors’ Association, he understands that meaningful progress depends on coordination and honest communication between state and local officials. He has a passion for designing solutions that strengthen boroughs across Lancaster and support first responders, teachers, and other public servants on the front lines.

As a Boy Scout and outdoorsman, Senator Malone is honored to serve as Minority Chair of the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee where he strengthens and upholds Lancaster County’s rich tradition of hunting, fishing, and wildlife preservation.

He also serves as a member of the Communications & Technology, Agriculture & Rural Affairs, Local Government, and Aging and Youth committees.
