HARRISBURG, PA – September 15, 2026 − State Senator James Andrew Malone (D-36, Lancaster) today announced $5,366,682 in Local Share Account (LSA) funding for projects to support local infrastructure, first responders, public health, and public safety in communities across the 36th Senatorial District in Northern Lancaster County.
The funding is awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority for projects that Senator Malone advocated for as part of his efforts to listen to local communities across his district and deliver state resources to support them.
“This funding will have a real, positive impact on the communities I serve across northern Lancaster County,” said Senator Malone. “It will help local fire companies and EMS teams save lives and offset costs for several important projects our local municipalities are undertaking to serve their communities. I make a point to connect with every community, hear their needs, and advocate for them in Harrisburg. I’m pleased to see these awards come through. I look forward to continuing to work with local communities to secure the resources we need to keep Lancaster safe and healthy.”
The organizations and projects receiving funding include:
- Columbia Borough – Columbia Crossing Structural Repairs: $300,000 for structural repairs at the Columbia Crossing Trailhead, including replacement of 24 columns and 16 rotted beams to ensure safe continued operations of the Columbia Crossing River Trails Center.
- Columbia Borough – Fire Station Infrastructure Upgrade Project: $889,498 for upgrades to the Columbia Borough Fire Department banquet hall and parking lot, including flooring, painting, plumbing, electrical work, and safety‑focused exterior renovations.
- Conoy Township – Bainbridge Fire Company Rescue Tools and Radios: $360,503 to replace outdated hydraulic rescue equipment with modern battery‑operated tools and to purchase radios compliant with Lancaster County’s updated emergency communication system.
- Conoy Township – Dump Truck and Mini Excavator: $308,465 to purchase a dump truck with plow and salt spreader and a mini excavator, improving year‑round maintenance of township and state roadways.
- East Hempfield Township – Axon Taser 10: $38,472 to purchase 15 updated tasers and associated equipment, replacing outdated units and standardizing tools across the police department.
- Elizabethtown Area Water Authority – New Pumps and Installation: $269,100 for bypass pumps and controls at the Clearwell Bypass facility to ensure reliable water service and reduce emergency repair delays.
- Ephrata Borough – Emergency Radio Communications Equipment Replacement: $69,221 to replace Lincoln Fire Company No. 1’s outdated radios with Phase‑II‑compliant emergency communication equipment.
- Ephrata Borough – EMS Equipment Upgrade and Service Enhancement: $182,806 for a new emergency response and supervisor vehicle for the Ephrata Community Ambulance Association, outfitted with updated communication and safety equipment.
- Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority – Lancaster Ice Rink: $400,062 for structural renovations at the Lancaster Ice Rink and the purchase of a new Zamboni to maintain safe and high‑quality ice conditions for community members to enjoy.
- Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority – Marietta Trailhead Lot 1: $409,090 for site improvements at the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail, including new parking, sidewalks, stormwater upgrades, seating, bike racks, and public restrooms.
- Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority – Pleasant View Makerspace Building: $600,000 to construct a makerspace building at Pleasant View Retirement Community, providing creative studio space with full structural and utility installation.
- Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority – Retirement Community Generator: $332,000 to purchase and install a new 500KW generator at Fairmont Homes to ensure reliable emergency power and improved safety for vulnerable residents.
- Mount Joy Borough – Barricades Purchase Project: $29,963 to purchase 72 water‑filled barricades for improved pedestrian safety, crowd control, and traffic management during community events.
- Mount Joy Borough Authority – New Compact Teleloader Procurement Project: $185,401 to purchase a compact teleloader to improve biosolid handling and operations at the wastewater treatment plant.
- Mountville Borough – Park Rehabilitation Project: $350,000 toward renovating the Mountville Community Park, including a new playground, athletic fields, expanded parking, and ADA‑accessible walkways and bathrooms.
- Rapho Township – Public Works Equipment Acquisition: $481,699 to purchase portable digital message boards, an articulating boom lift, and a road widener to support roadway safety notifications, building maintenance, and rural road improvements.
- West Hempfield Township – Fire Department Equipment Infrastructure Project: $160,402 to install a unified key card access system across both Iron Ridge Fire Rescue stations, improving security and operational coordination.
