LITITZ, PA − August 25, 2026 − Today, State Senator James Andrew Malone responded to the two recent measles deaths in Lancaster County with the following statement:
“My heart goes out to the families of the two individuals who died from measles in Lancaster County. I encourage everyone to protect themselves and their families by getting vaccinated if they are unvaccinated and staying informed about recent outbreaks with the Department of Health’s new online dashboard.
The measles vaccination is highly effective and most people who receive it are protected for life. For years, high rates of vaccination have protected our community from this very contagious disease, which is especially dangerous to children younger than five years of age. Let’s work together to contain this outbreak and spread awareness of the MMR vaccine that has been recommended by doctors for decades.”
