HARRISBURG, PA – April 29, 2026 – Today, State Senator James Andrew Malone (D-36, Lancaster) announced a $130,000 grant he helped secure through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for maintenance equipment in East Donegal Township. The funds will be used to help purchase a mini excavator equipped with tilt and rotator couplers to help township staff more efficiently repair roads and other infrastructure, improving safety and saving local taxpayers money.
“As a former small-town mayor, I’m very aware of the challenges local municipalities in my district face, and I’m working to make sure communities of every size get the support they need,” said Senator Malone. “Local officials work hard to stretch resources and take care of their roads and infrastructure. I’m happy to help fill in the gaps wherever I can. I’m thankful for the work East Donegal Township’s manager, Scott Kingsboro, and his team are doing, and I’m proud I was able to support them in purchasing new equipment.”
“The ability to secure the DCED grant has enabled us to purchase a much-needed piece of equipment that will help ensure our Public Works Department can fix and maintain our roads today and in the future for our community,” said Township Manager Scott Kingsboro.
East Donegal Township’s limited staff maintains approximately 56 miles of roads while facing challenges from aging drainage pipes and poor roadside drainage. Increased traffic and heavy rains have led to worsening road conditions and safety issues that this mini excavator will be used to address.
