Senator Malone Announces $3.79 Million in Statewide Local Share Account Grants and $170,000 in Act 13 Program Grants for Projects in Senate District 36

HARRISBURG, PA – Today, State Senator James Andrew Malone (D-36, Lancaster) announced the award of more than $3.79 million in Commonwealth Financing Authority Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) grants for 13 projects and $170,000 in Act 13 Program grants for two projects across Senate District 36.

“I’m proud to have worked with my colleagues to deliver funding for these important projects across my district,” said Senator Malone. “These funds will help support our first responders, infrastructure, recreation, and community organizations in Lancaster. I’m glad to have advocated for them, and I look forward to continuing to find funding for vital community projects.”

Senator Malone announced the following LSA grants:

  • Akron Borough/Akron Volunteer Fire Company were awarded $850,000 for the purchase of a new fire engine.
  • Columbia Borough/National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors were awarded $250,000 for HVAC improvements at the National Watch and Clock Museum located in Columbia Borough.
  • Conoy Township was awarded $83,483 for the purchase of a service truck with utility body, snowplow, and steel lift gate to maintain roads, trail systems, and other infrastructure maintenance.
  • East Earl Township/Garden Spot Fire Rescue/Weaver Valley Fire Department were awarded $180,401 for a new EMS radio system to replace aging equipment throughout their service area.
  • Little Conestoga Creek Foundation was awarded $400,000 for stream, floodplain, and wetland restoration improvements and an accompanying trail along a 2.5-mile stretch of stream in East Hempfield and Manheim Township. These trail improvements will connect to 5 miles of existing trail and 15 miles of proposed trails.
  • East Hempfield Township was awarded $90,000 for upgrading their 12-year-old radio system.
  • Ephrata Borough was awarded $260,851 for upgrades to the Ephrata Recreation Center’s HVAC and fire protection system.
  • Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority/Pleasant View Communities were awarded $600,000 for building a daycare facility on Pleasant View Communities’ campus in Penn Township.
  • Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority/Good Samaritan Services were awarded $215,717 for the Elevate & Gather: Roof Deck Community Space Project, which aims to create a safe, accessible, outdoor gathering area and communal space on the roof of the Good Samaritan Services’ W. Locust Street location.
  • Manheim Area Water and Sewer Authority was awarded $200,000 for the demolition and reconstruction of their T-6 Pumping Station in Manheim Borough.
  • Manheim Township was awarded $123,399 for the demolition of an aging footbridge and construction of a new pedestrian footbridge.
  • Penn Township/Penryn Fire Company were awarded $230,722 for the purchase of new radio equipment for use in Penn Township.
  • United Disabilities Services Foundation (UDSF) was awarded $309,000 for construction of an entranceway and elevator in East Hempfield Township. The project aims to enhance accessibility and consolidate services for UDSF clients.

The following Act 13 Program grants were awarded:

  • Manheim Township was awarded $85,000 for the Lititz Pike Walking Trail extension.
  • Mount Joy Township was awarded $85,000 for phase 3 of the Old Trolley Line Park improvements.
